What is the TQSA?

During the 2007 Legislative Session, there were significant changes to the Teacher Quality and Student Achievement Law.  Some of the highlights include:

          ● Increasing minimum teacher salaries by $1000.

● Allowing for pay increases for the 2007-2008, and 2008-2009 School Years.         For LM certified staff and nurses holding a BSN, this means checks on December 7, 2007, and June 6, 2008, of approximately $1550 each. Checks on December 7, 2008 and June 6, 2009, of approximately $2500 each.

● Calls for creation of a teacher quality and student achievement committee with equal representation of teachers and administrators, to provide input on the use of professional development funds and monitor the evaluation process.

The Teacher Quality and Student Achievement Committee (TQSA) adheres to the open meetings law.  All agendas are posted at the ESC prior to each meeting.  LM Staff will receive regular updates.
